ABOUT
Naomi Faria is a Canadian screenwriter, director, and game developer with experience across short-form content like short films and sketches, as well as long-form feature film scripts, pilot episodes for one-hour drama series and half-hour comedy series, documentary, TV movie, and more. She holds a Diploma in Writing for Film & TV from Toronto Film School.
Having transitioned into filmmaking from an environmental background with a B. Sc. (Agr.) in Plant Science, Naomi’s writing style focuses on naturalistic topics and explores themes of perspective. She is drawn to stories featuring changes in perspective despite an unchanging setting, leading to deeply raw, character-driven stories with strong, though infallibly unreliable, narrators. In her writing, she combines this educational experience with her personal experience as a mixed-race woman who has often felt the disconnect between one’s perception of self and the external perception of oneself, feeding even further into her exploration of perspective.
In addition to live action content, Naomi has also worked in video game development, with multiple certifications in Unity and C# game development, as well as Blender 3D modeling, rigging, and animation. She is the creator and developer behind Plant Native!, a 2D educational platformer designed for the Yukon Invasive Species Council.
